Buzzworks is well known in Ayrshire owning such establishments as The Lido and Elliotts. This afternoon we went for the two course for £10.50 deal at Scotts. It begins at 4.30 and you can choose from a variety of starters, mains and puddings. We went for a three-cheese macaroni with garlic bread and fish and chips with a minted pea side followed by lemon tart and vanilla and strawberry ice cream. With coffee and tea it came to under £24 without the tip. They also have a loyalty card which offers £5 off every so often. I’m not a great one for loyalty cards but when I think about the number of times I eat out this is foolishness on my part.

The fish was boneless and not greasy despite the batter and the side portions of chips and minted peas were just the right amount. The macaroni was delicious. Lemon is one of my favourite flavours and so a lemon cake is always going to be a hit with me. It is beautifully presented with whipped cream, forest fruits and a thin biscuit. The forest fruits are even more tart than lemon. The ice cream also looked attractively displayed.

Other plus points about Scotts are the view over the Marina and layout. Living flame fires inside and candles in sand-filled fish tanks give one a sense of warmth no matter how cold it might be outside.

Friendly staff but not intrusive. How things should be.
